So I've been home for four days. The honeymoon is over. Working 9.5 hour days. Being taken advantage of by nearly everyone. Cooking. Cleaning. Feeling guilty I don't get more done. Haven't done more. Dealing with annoying people who say the most unbelievably rude things. Do you suppose some people just wake up in the morning and decide to be rude? The camera disappeared at a large family event and hasn't been seen again. Buried somewhere no doubt. Annoying. Thank goodness I'd downloaded photos.
I want to go back to Cape Cod.
Loving, loving the Ken Burns documentary on National Parks.

Preparing to leave Cape Cod with mixed feelings. It's so beautiful here and it's really nice to be somewhat checked out of reality for a while. Just learning, writing and riding the bicycle. I'd love to come back when I could just relax and do nothing, except ride the bike and go up to visit the national seashore. Maybe someday.

Woods Hole
I'm learning so much. At the moment, listening to my seventh scientist of the day and it must be like the 25th scientist of the week.
Lots of talk about ocean observation, marine mammals and climate change. Individualized research begins Monday. We'll see how that goes.
Pace is pretty intense, most days from 8 a.m. to 6 or 7 p.m. Then dinner and fall into bed. Somehow later tonight, after a reception with many of the scientists, I have to figure out how to write a story for the weekend paper. Interviews are done, just need to focus on getting it done.
Sounds like Rosie really misses me. I feel a little guilty but maybe it really is good for both of us. I'm a bit homesick today and really missing family and home.
Woods Hole and Falmouth are lovely. I certainly understand what people mean now about Cape Cod architecture!! It's everywhere.
Slept last night with the windows open. Temperature is very nice.

Oh my goodness
Lots going on here. Feeling very unsettled. I've never been away from home for two weeks before. And never been away longer than nine days alone. So two weeks at Woods Hole will be an adventure. I may come back early. I'm still trying to decide. I'm afraid I'm going to miss Steve and Rosie terribly!
What a surprise to print the ticket Tuesday and discover they'd booked me for two weeks.
Now I'm trying to pack for two weeks. The idea of just taking a carry on went right out the window when I realized it was longer than a week. I made a lasagna and put it in the freezer and a hamburger stroganoff casserole. Plus I bought a bunch of heat and eats from Schwans. Now I'm working on a detailed schedule for them while I'm gone.
Hoping to write a couple of stories tomorrow before I leave. Then keeping William all day on Saturday.
Choir festival in DeLand at the church, Saturday night at 7 p.m. Should be wonderful!
